Ride Disclaimer & Liability Notice
Last updated: [16th of June 2026]
Gusto Cycling Club is a road cycling brand and club. Participation in any ride, event, training session, social ride, test ride, informal group activity or other activity connected with Gusto Cycling Club or GCC is entirely voluntary and at each rider’s own risk.
By joining, attending or participating in any GCC ride or activity, each rider confirms that they understand and accept the risks associated with road cycling, fast group riding and riding on public roads.
Personal responsibility
All riders are personally responsible for their own safety, behaviour, equipment, fitness, road awareness and decision-making at all times.
Each rider is responsible for deciding whether a ride is suitable for their ability, experience, health and fitness level. Riders should not participate if they are unwell, injured, fatigued, under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or otherwise unable to ride safely.
Participation in a GCC ride does not remove or reduce a rider’s personal responsibility on the road.
Road cycling risk
Road cycling involves inherent risks, including but not limited to falls, collisions, mechanical failure, poor road surfaces, traffic, weather conditions, rider error, group riding incidents, injury, property damage and, in serious cases, death.
Gusto Cycling Club, GCC, its founders, organisers, ride leaders, volunteers, supporters, sponsors, partners, brand owners and associated persons accept no legal responsibility for any injury, loss, damage, accident, incident, theft, expense or claim arising from participation in any ride or related activity, except where liability cannot legally be excluded under applicable law.
Club standard and rider suitability
GCC is a fast road cycling club and brand. It is not a casual beginner cycling group.
Riders may be required to meet the GCC club standard before joining official rides. As a basic benchmark, riders should be able to reach 50 km/h or above on the flat, unaided, in suitable conditions.
This benchmark is not a race requirement. It is a practical indication of rider strength, confidence, bike handling and suitability for fast group road cycling.
GCC may refuse, delay or withdraw participation from any rider who does not meet the expected standard, appears unsafe in the group, lacks suitable road awareness, or whose behaviour creates risk for themselves, other riders, road users or the reputation of the club.
No electric bikes
GCC rides are for unaided road cycling only.
Electric bikes, e-bikes, e-road bikes, speed pedelecs or any other motor-assisted bicycles are not permitted on official GCC rides unless expressly approved in advance for a specific purpose.
Ride groups and pace
GCC rides may operate as A Group and B Group rides, depending on rider numbers, route, weather, road conditions and available ride organisation.
A Group rides may involve higher speeds, stronger pulls, rolling efforts and sustained fast riding.
B Group rides may involve a steadier rhythm, controlled pacing and strong group riding discipline, but they are still road cycling rides and not beginner rides.
Routes, pace, regrouping points and ride structure may change at any time based on safety, weather, traffic, rider numbers or practical judgement.
Personal insurance required
All riders must have their own appropriate personal insurance before participating in any GCC ride or activity.
This may include, where relevant, personal liability insurance, accident insurance, health insurance, cycling insurance, legal protection insurance, or any other cover suitable for road cycling in Belgium and abroad.
Gusto Cycling Club does not provide insurance cover for riders.
Each rider is responsible for checking that their own insurance is valid and adequate for group road cycling, fast riding and participation in informal or organised cycling activities.
Equipment and safety
All riders must use a roadworthy bicycle and appropriate cycling equipment.
A properly fitted cycling helmet is required for all rides.
Riders are responsible for using suitable lights, clothing, repair tools, spare tubes, nutrition, hydration and weather-appropriate equipment.
Riders must follow the Belgian Highway Code and any applicable road rules at all times.
Group riding
Riders are expected to ride safely, predictably and respectfully within the group.
This includes holding a safe line, communicating hazards, respecting the ride pace, avoiding dangerous behaviour, avoiding sudden movements, riding within their ability, and following reasonable guidance from ride organisers or ride leaders.
Riders must not treat GCC rides as races, competitions or closed-road events. Unless expressly stated otherwise, all GCC rides take place on open public roads.
Minors
Minors
Riders under the age of 18 may only participate with the prior written permission of a parent or legal guardian.
The parent or legal guardian remains responsible for ensuring that the minor has appropriate insurance, suitable cycling ability, road awareness, maturity and equipment.
Gusto Cycling Club does not accept responsibility for supervising minors unless this has been expressly agreed in writing for a specific activity.
Informal and ad hoc rides
Some rides may be organised informally through WhatsApp, email, social media or other communication channels.
Even where a ride is shared, discussed or promoted through GCC channels, each rider remains personally responsible for deciding whether to participate and for riding safely.
Changes, cancellation and routes
Routes, distances, pace groups, meeting points and ride plans may change due to weather, road conditions, rider numbers, safety concerns or other practical reasons.
Gusto Cycling Club may cancel, modify, pause or stop a ride at any time where this is considered sensible or necessary.
Sponsors and partners
Gusto Cycling Club may work with sponsors, cafés, restaurants, suppliers, partners or other brands.
The presence of a sponsor, partner, logo, promotion or brand collaboration does not mean that the sponsor or partner is responsible for any ride, rider, event, accident, incident or activity unless this has been expressly agreed in writing.
No professional advice
Any information shared by Gusto Cycling Club about cycling, training, routes, safety, equipment, nutrition, performance or group riding is general information only.
It is not medical, legal, insurance, coaching or professional advice.
Riders should seek appropriate professional advice where needed.
Photos, video and brand content
GCC rides and activities may be photographed or filmed for brand, website, social media, promotional or sponsor-related content.
By participating in a GCC ride or activity, riders acknowledge that images or video may be captured in a public or group cycling context.
Any rider who does not wish to appear in GCC content should inform the organiser before the ride where reasonably possible.
Acceptance
By participating in a Gusto Cycling Club or GCC ride or activity, the rider confirms that they have read, understood and accepted this disclaimer.
If a rider does not accept these terms, they should not participate.
